30 day song challenge day 12: song from hated band

Day 12 — A song from a band you hate

Ok…there’s Babymetal which I can’t figure out for nuts, but why would I be listening to their music if I dislike their music in the first place? Right?

So, I shall post a song that I like from a band that I don’t particularly like. How’s that?

And the band that I don’t particularly like is… *drumroll*

One Direction.

Hahaha…I’m serious. I have passed the phase of boybands so I really don’t understand what’s so good about them. BUT! I have to say that their songs ridiculously grow on you. The first song I discovered that is by them is “One Thing”.

Day 11 — A song from your favourite band

I have lots of favourite bands and for each band, lots of favourite songs. Since I have posted a NewS song before, I shall share a song from my next favourite band, AAA. I love AAA’s “PARTY IT UP”. It’s my favourite dance track of the band. It’s so catchy. Although I can’t dance for nuts, I really love the dance moves for this song.

PS: I’m also really happy that my favourite member of the band, Atae Shinjiro is getting more solo lines in the songs nowadays.

30 day song challenge day 09: song i can dance to

Day 09 — A song that you can dance to

I’ll admit that I can’t dance for nuts.  Unfortunately, I was not born with dancing 细胞。Instead, I learnt the hand actions to some songs like Perfume’s “My Color” and Ayumi Hamasaki’s “Trauma”. But if I really wanted to dance to a song, I’ll choose AKB48’s “恋するフォーチュンクッキー” (Koisuru Fortune Cookie). It’s such an happy infectious song. I was even secretly hoping that people would dance it at my wedding. Hahaha… There are many versions of the PV in different parts of Japan and around the world. Maybe one day there’ll be a Singapore version that they’ll upload on YouTube? Who knows…

30 day song challenge day 08: song that i know all the words to

Day 08 — A song that you know all the words to

I probably know the lyrics to a couple of English songs, but somehow the first song I thought of was Perfume’s “My Color”. I swear this is a Japanese song with the easiest lyrics to remember by heart. There’s only one verse and chorus. The chorus just repeats like three times. And the song has hand actions to go along.

Lyrics under the cut.

30 day song challenge day 07: song that reminds you of an event

It has been some time since I did this. Continuing where I left off…

Day 07 — A song that reminds you of a certain event

ZONE’s “HANABI ~君がいた夏~” (HANABI ~Kimi ga Ita Natsu) brings back great memories of J-Net fashion show especially the one in Fall 2007. It was my first year taking part in the fashion show and I was in both modern yukata and lolita segments. This song was used in our modern yukata segment.

I had such great fun and for once felt I could do something like that without being judged. Made some great friends, some of whom I still keep in touch with on Facebook.

30 day song challenge day 06: song that reminds you of somewhere

Day 06 — A song that reminds you of somewhere

The NSAC song! Yes, that was our theme song. NSAC 2011 was the one and only NSAC I took part in. All the hours that we put in, even if we didn’t conquer the regionals, we placed at a good fourth place. Until now I can still remember the nights we spent at Greg Hall. Even if we disagreed with one another’s working styles, I could see the determination in our eyes on the day of the regionals presentation. The tension was in the air, we felt the same nervous feeling. At that moment, we were one. It was awesome.

Now, everytime I hear this song, my mind goes back to those days. It has become a song that tells me not to give up — that no matter what, the show goes on tonight…

30 day song challenge day 05: song that reminds me of someone

Day 05 — A song that reminds you of someone

Actually, any Kanjani8 song will remind me of Perrine (Per), but I think the most appropriate Kanjani8 song would be “Osaka Romanesque”. It was the time when I was overly crazy about NewS and she was overly crazy about Kanjani8. I remember this song held meaning for us because we had visited Osaka one time together and we were identifying the places we had gone and want to visit in the song.

No official PV, but here’s a clip from their concert.
