Handsome oppa boss released the concept video for his upcoming album and it has all the feels. Love the artistic feel to it coz as many Yebles have pointed out, it’s…so him.
The slight loneliness, sadness, frustration?, quiet determination…all rolled into one.
I don’t know but it gives me the “我所有的辛苦，谁会懂？Does anybody care anyway?” vibes. Coz “台上一分钟，台下十年功” People only see things on the surface, but they don’t know the blood, sweat, and tears behind the work.
The scene where he throws a ball of paper behind him and there are balls of paper everywhere on the floor. It seems to signify the frustration in perfecting what he does. Then, the scene where he is typing away on a typewriter. A scroll of paper on the floor to show that he has typed so much already. You know, sometimes you feel tired of what you’re doing, but you just can’t stop. Coz this is what you have been doing your whole life. If you stop, what will become of you? Can you even stop? (Sidenote: There’s a character in “The Little Prince” who is doing something similar. Was it calculating? I can’t really recall now. Need to re-read the book.)
Then, there’s that loneliness. This life that you’ve built for yourself, the one where you’ve never stopped climbing… I remember my ex-boss’ words “It gets lonely at the top.” Another way to see it, he is in the entertainment scene. Everything he does and says is being watched by people. Every relationship is being pried into and dissected. At the end of the day, it’s better to be alone.
And yet, there’s this quiet determination to keep going no matter what.

PS: Halfway while thinking about this and trying to digest the whole video, the jaded feel started to creep in. The one where the questions of “What am I doing all this for? What am I living for?” pop up. Ok, STOP. DON’T OVERTHINK IT. *chants* Think happy thoughts. Think happy thoughts…
