give the man a tiger

I should be starting on that freakin’ 2000 word report but what am I doing again? Blogging, checking emails…everything except the report. Spent some time searching for the welcome package that NCS gave which contains information about the company. Yea…you know how messy my room is. It’s like going through the mountains.

Yesterday, had a good time at the Tiger Beer Euphoria ’04 party at Padang. Of course I didn’t drink. DUH. I don’t drink. Just enjoying the performances.

Shinhwa was cool. I really can’t tell who’s who coz they all look alike. Except for the lead vocalist…Hye Sung. He has a distinct face that just stands out from the rest.

Then there was All 4 One and then Palmy, this half Thai girl. She’s so pretty. But she’s this weird girl. Desmond said her style and mannerism resembled Alanis Morrisette. The girl’s cool manz. She just danced around the stage like she was having a good time. Tried to work the crowd up but shouting out loud. And she’s the first female artiste that I know who sprays water at the crowd. Normally it’s the guys. She sang the Thai version of Xiao Xiao’s “Ai Yao Tan Dang Dang”.

Then there was Machi. I think they got the most supporters. Lena Park. Petite girl with a huge voice. Those Singapore Idol contestants should possess those qualities. And of course there was Shin. That was why Sis got tickets in the first place. *rolls eyes*

Lastly, Michael Learns To Rock. Belting out all those old tunes…those tunes I listened to in Primary school. Coz back then, Sis listened to them. The whole party lasted till around 1am. After which, we went to search for food. 24 hour foodcourt.

I think I eat too much these days. Snacking. Yea…wait till I become horizontally challenged.

Alrighty, I should get working on the report. *sigh*

another day

Wahahahaha…right now I think I’m addicted to Lene Marlin’s “Another Day” and “Disguise”. Thanks to Nad who lent me her 2 Lene Marlin cds. I listened to the “Another Day” cd like non-stop at work.

I think I might make my next layout one that features Lene Marlin. Maybe…

Love the way the lyrics go for her songs. A little bit on the sad side but not fairytale-like. Very real. Like talking about everyday things that can happen to anybody. Yupz, I love songs with realistic lyrics.

Here’s one with what I call realistic lyrics. I think it’s about someone who committed suicide.

“Story” by Lene Marlin

I heard about your story from a friend
To let go and make an end, that’s what you did
You left some words saying now it would be good
You knew they’d cry, but you hoped they understood
Things you’ve had to face, what you have seen
To make it through each day, you tried,
Without the tears
They tried to help, but they didn’t see you crawl
They knew you fought, but they never
Thought you’d fall
They never thought you’d fall.

Tell them please, how could they know
Hurts inside, no scars to show
You played the lead, and never once you failed
And the place from where you watch us now
Hope you’ve found your peace somehow,
Peace somehow

I heard about your story through the years
Know ’bout all your hurt and fears
I won’t forget
I wrote a song that I wish for you to hear
It’s about yourself and the life you couldn’t bear

Tell them please, how could they know
Hurts inside, no scars to show
You played the lead, and never once you failed
And the place from where you watch us now
Hope you’ve found your peace somehow,
Peace somehow

I wanna remember all there’s about you,
And I know there’s so much
I see all the faces, the tears and embraces
Wish you could be here to see it too

phone battery dying

Yesterday I tried my luck at lunchtime radio dedications again. This time I dedicated the song to Nad. Kimberly Locke’s “8th World Wonder”. And nope…Grace didn’t pick my sms.

Met Sis after work for dinner. I wanted to go check out the prices for handphones too. My handphone…correction, handphone battery is dying. Due to my overcharging, the battery is now a little cranky which makes it almost impossible to hold long conversations on the phone. Unless you want to risk getting our conversation cut off suddenly. So it’s either I get a new phone or a new battery. Of course, I’ll choose the former. Then finally I can own a colour screen phone. Mine’s like probably ancient…Nokia 3315. Well, changing a phone now means I probably wouldn’t get my dream phone *note: flip phone with camera and antenna* but anyway the phones which I’m eyeing on, the prices probably wouldn’t drop to an all-time low until about a year or so.

Current Singtel phone deals…lowest pricing…Samsung’s SGH-X430 at $48 or Nokia’s 6100 at $68.

Anyway, Sis and I talked about radio and she suddenly asked me whether I was the one who won Alter Bridge’s cd. Ermz…yea. Ok ok…I was bored. I had no idea what band that was. But from my internet searching. Thought the music from the band wouldn’t be that bad. Need to look for new music…getting sick of the songs in my playlist.

Haha…now I know her workplace, the people on the radio the whole day. Maybe I should dedicate a song to her. At first I was thinking of Maroon 5’s “This Love” or Black Eyed Peas’s “Let’s Get Retarded”. But no, I’m nice…so yea…thinking now.

“let’s get retarded (HA!)…let’s get retarded in here…”

let’s get retarded

Read from Streats yesterday that Susilo proposed to Jia Wei. So sweet. *smilez* I don’t know, but I had this feeling he would propose to her when she returned to Singapore from Athens. 🙂

Had dinner with Nad again yesterday. She was all excited about using her ezlink card to get points from Mac. So we went to Mac at TM. Haha…

The whole of yesterday, I was just listening to the radio while doing my work. Lunchtime dedications. And yea, I was bored enough to send an sms dedication. Grace didn’t read out the sms which kinda said “I would like to dedicate Maroon 5’s “This Love” to everyone”. Haha…coz she said to keep it under 160 characters which is like really little so there you go, crapz sms. BUT YEA! She played the song.

“This Love” has this really funny tune to it that kinda gets stuck in your head after awhile. I was irritating Sis by singing the first few lines of the chorus over and over again last Sunday. Another song by Maroon 5 that’s nice is “She Will Be Loved”.

The good thing about listening to the radio is you get to know about new songs which are nice. Like Ashlee Simpson’s “Pieces Of Me”, Hoobastank’s “The Reason”, Black Eyed Peas “Let’s Get It Started”, Clay Aiken’s “I Will Carry You”.

Talking about the Black Eyed Peas song. I wanted to know the title of the song so did a search for the lyrics online. Oh! I thought I heard wrongly coz I found the lyrics for “Let’s Get Retarded”. Later on I found out that they re-did the song with different lyrics but same tune which is “Let’s Get It Started”.

Oh well…

“Let’s get retarded…(ha!) Let’s get retarded in here…”

BEP

Hehe…I managed to catch the Black Eyed Peas “Where Is The Love?” mtv on tv. Thought I missed it. Love the song. Realistic lyrics.

“Where Is The Love?” by Black Eyed Peas
What’s wrong with the world, mama
People livin’ like they ain’t got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that’ll bring you trauma
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin’
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK
But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you’re bound to get irate, yeah
Badness is what you demonstrate
And that’s exactly how anger works and operates
N**, you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love, y’all, y’all

People killin’, people dyin’
Children hurt and you hear them cryin’
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
‘Cause people got me, got me questionin’
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love
The love, the love

It just ain’t the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don’t belong
Nations droppin’ bombs
Chemical gasses fillin’ lungs of little ones
With the ongoin’ sufferin’ as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin’ really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin’ wrong
In this world that we livin’ in people keep on givin’ in
Makin’ wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin’ each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin’ on but the reason’s undercover
The truth is kept secret, it’s swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love
Where’s the love, y’all, come on (I don’t know)
Where’s the truth, y’all, come on (I don’t know)
Where’s the love, y’all

People killin’, people dyin’
Children hurt and you hear them cryin’
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
‘Cause people got me, got me questionin’
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love
The love, the love

I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I’m gettin’ older, y’all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin’
Selfishness got us followin’ our own direction
Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids act like what they see in the cinema
Yo’, whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness in equality
Instead in spreading love we spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity
That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feelin’ under
That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feelin’ down
There’s no wonder why sometimes I’m feelin’ under
Gotta keep my faith alive to lovers bound

People killin’, people dyin’
Children hurt and you hear them cryin’
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send us some guidance from above
‘Cause people got me, got me questionin’
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)

hikki’s single collection

We won’t be going to Shizuoka, Japan after all. At first it was coz Sis had a SIP briefing on the 22nd. Anyway, Mum said that uncle Inada emailed to say that ends up, he only has 10 minutes for his presentation at the ceremony so it’s not worth for us to travel all the way to Japan again.

I bought Utada Hikaru’s “Single Collection 1” yesterday. And I’m listening to it now.

The list of songs…
1. Time Will Tell

2. Automatic
*Kelly Chen Hui Lin sang this in mandarin*

3. Movin’ On Without You

4. First Love
*Theme song for drama “Mo Nu De Tiao Jian” starring Nanako Matsushima and Hideaki Takizawa. It’s also the only Utada song that I can sing fully. Of course, I had to read the romanji lyrics, my Japanese is not that power.*

5. Addicted To You

6. Wait & See ~Risk~
*I love the PV (Promotional Video) for this song. Utada looks best in this PV.*

7. For You
8. (HELP! The title’s in katakana and I can’t read katakana!)

9. Can You Keep A Secret?
*Ok song…*

10. FINAL DISTANCE
*There’s a faster paced version titled “Distance”. Lyrics slightly changed. This song was in memory of those killed in some shooting in a school. Apparently, the girl who died was a huge fan of Utada Hikaru. Very emotional song…at least the tune is emotional.*

11. Traveling
*Cute and happy song. UFM 100.3 used the beginning part for their report on news on the road.*

12. Hikari
*I think this is the only song, gamers who aren’t Jpop fans will find familiar. *nudges sensei* It’s supposed to be the theme song for the game “Kingdom Hearts” I think.*

13. Sakura Drops
*I like this song from her “Deep River” album.*

14. Letters

15. Colors
*Hehe…I can only say, after listening to this song, you’ll know how to name a few colours in Japanese.*

Alrighty, I would have bought this cd earlier had I not mistaken it for some classical album. The cover really looks like for some classical album and MJ put it on the bottom row of the shelf so yea…

Lastly, quoting from Ling’s blog. For those who are dying to get a laptop, add this reason to your list of reasons why you should get one.

“Can hit molesters/stalkers with it”

Good one huh?

trains and mrts

The previous posts have been archived so for those who haven’t read about my Japan trip and want to, go to the archives.

Since I’ve tagged a fair bit about trains and MRTs, let’s talk about that.

Like I tagged, in Japan, the train service has normal, fast and rapid. Normal, the train stops at every stop. Fast, the train stops at certain stops. Rapid, the train stops at only major stops. There is no difference in train fare for normal and fast trains. However for rapid trains, there is a need to pay 500 yen more.

Mum and Dad travelled by train to some place. They didn’t know about the extra fee for the rapid trains. So they happily got on one. That was until the train master came round checking tickets and asked them to pay 500 yen more.

If you’re thinking that perhaps the train master is trying to con my parents, I don’t think so. I believe that generally, all Japanese are honest people. Everything is done in the open so there can be no accusations of cheating and whatsoever.

At the shops, you do not put the money for payment on the table or hand it to the salesperson. There is a tray on the counter to leave the money there.

Every item scanned, the salesperson will announce how much it cost. He/she will also announce the total cost, how much you pay and the change if any. If you pay in a big note *10000 yen and above* for something that cost very little. The salesperson will count the notes for the change one by one.

Ok ok…I have strayed from the main topic.

So maybe our MRT can adopt the normal and fast train method? But then again, I think they better not mess around with the system anymore.

Look at what trouble has been caused coz of the circle line. First it was Nicoll Highway. Then it was AYE. I haven’t exactly read about what happened to the AYE. It was reported by Desmond when we came back to Singapore.

I say, if more stuff happens that’s related to the circle line, perhaps the circle line is not meant to exist.

Okie…here comes the pics…

This is a one-day ticket. Single trips cost around 200-300 yen. So if you’re making more than 4 trips a day, it is cheaper to get this. With this ticket that costs 850 yen (around S$13.60), it allows you to make unlimited trips in a day. I wanted to buy a single trip ticket, the cheapest one to keep as a souvenir but I forgot. Single trip tickets get “eaten” up.

Yes yes…Aiba-kun! Kakkoii ne~ The uchiwas I bought from the Johnny’s shop. The left one is from the 2003 Summer concert. The right one is from the 2003-2004 Winter concert. Ok ok…Per, your Sho-kun is also kakkoii. Hehe…

This is my yukata~~~ *sings* Had to take this pic while Mum was out. She folded it nicely and put it in a box already. If she knew I took it out just to take a pic, she’ll kill me. *points* The main yukata. The yellow piece is the obi *the one that goes around the waist*. The strings to tie. Then the pink “bao bao” *bag*. Hee…

new song, new wallpaper

New song on my blog. “Car Crashes” by Standfast. I think it’s one of Nad’s favourites right? It’s quite an outdated song but I still like it a lot. Certain lines in the song…

Lyrics to the song…

“Car Crashes” by Standfast

Car crashes deeply shows
A drunkard on the side of the road
People running (running)
Fantasy or reality
Analysis and theories
What does it matter really

Tell me what to believe
Won’t you bring me yonder
Tell me what to achieve
Baby, so I can move over
Tell me what to believe
Car crashes deeply shows
A drunkard on the side of the road
People run and run

Credit cards, a placid distress
Go live your life on the internet
That’s what this is
Conspiracies and mysteries
Science-fiction make-believe
My guy’s misery

Tell me what to believe
Won’t you bring me yonder
Tell me what to achieve
Baby, so I can move over
Tell me what to believe
Car crashes deeply shows
A drunkard on the side of the road
People run and run

Tell me what to believe
Won’t you bring me yonder
Tell me what to achieve
Baby, so I can move over
Tell me what to believe
Car crashes deeply shows
A drunkard on the side of the road
People run and run

Car crashes deeply shows
A drunkard on the side of the road
People running (running)
(All these car crashes in my head)
Fantasy or reality
Analysis and theories
(All these car crashes)
What does it matter really
(All these car crashes)

Tell me what to believe
Won’t you bring me yonder
Tell me what to achieve
Baby, so I can move over
Tell me what to believe
Car crashes deeply shows
A drunkard on the side of the road
People run and run

Tell me what to believe
Won’t you bring me yonder
Tell me what to achieve
Baby, so I can move over
Tell me what to believe
Car crashes deeply shows
A drunkard on the side of the road
People run and run

Wallpaper update. It’s S.H.E once again. It’s the cover of their 6th album “Qi Huan Lu Cheng”. There are 2 versions for the album. This is the magical version…I also prefer the cover for this version. There wasn’t a wallpaper made yet. So I scanned the cover myself. Taa daa!

friday’s entry

ORDS lab test. Managed to get the procedure created. But there’s some parts wrong in my procedure coz when I run, the results I get aren’t the supposed results. Oh well…Mrs Ho said I was getting close to the answer.

Rushed down to Cineleisure in a cab. S.H.E’s autograph session. By the time I reached there, it was about 6.30pm. Whoa! The queue was horrendous. There was no proper barrier. The queue was just formed behind cineleisure, near Long John’s, on the grass patch.

I didn’t want to go queue up yet. From experience, the queue will go haywire once S.H.E comes.

S.H.E arrived around 7pm. Couldn’t see anything coz the tent flap was covering. The tent was faced to the front of Cineleisure anyway. By then, the queue was starting to go haywire. But queue was still visible. Police chasing people to just go on the grass patch. I just remained on the pavement.

Around 7.30pm. Saw Joycelyn and Duan Neng. They wanted to go queue. I decided to join them. 8pm. We only moved like 50m. What the hell. The queue doesn’t even look like it’s moving.

Suddenly, the dreaded happened. The queue went haywire. Everyone started running forward, forming a crowd. One lump…as Joycelyn described. It was really stuffy but nothing could be done except to pray hope that the crowd would move along faster.

A few hours pass. The left side of the crowd *my side* haven’t really moved. Only a few metres. People are starting to get impatient. A few yell out at the police to do something. There were railings on the side. The only way to get out of the crowd would be to climb over the railings which was a little risk. At about 10.30pm, the thought of giving up and climbing over the railings crossed my mind. On both sides of me, people were almost crushing my bones. I was thinking it might be impossible that S.H.E would even autograph everyone’s cd. However, Joycelyn and Duan Neng weren’t ready to give up. So I made up my mind to persevere with them.

I could hear my handphone ringing non-stop but I couldn’t even get my handphone. Squashed.

Alleluia. 11.30pm, the crowd finally starts to disperse and actually move. It was declared that everyone’s cd would be autographed. Our perseverance paid off. We were the last few in the queue. Checked my handphone. 12 missed calls and a message. Messaged Mum to apologise and told her I’ll be sharing a cab with the Joycelyn and Duan Neng.

12 midnight and I finally got both my cds autographed! I got to shake all 3 hands. Selina was softly singing along to “Bo Si Mao” which was playing out through the amplifier. Ella was the friendliest. She thanked every fan whose cd she autographed. Hebe was a little disappointing though. She didn’t even smile or look up. Just signed and pushed the booklet along. But I guess she’s tired.

The 3 of us were awfully thirsty. Got a drink from Cheers. Then shared a cab home. By the time I reached home, my body was aching and I had a headache. My eyes were dry. Stupid me forgot to bring out the eyedrops.

The stamp reads “S.H.E @ Singapore”.

2 versions of S.H.E’s new album.

Hebe didn’t sign properly on this one.
