back with hilary

realistic-soul.net is back. After a few days of trouble with diaryland *their server broke down* and then having trouble with the cache and all *still am*…I’m back.

Actually I did up everything days ago but was having trouble with the cache, css yada yada… And I figured, what the heck. So if you see the links portion, the scrollbar is white, it’s not my fault. My tcg page is lime green, it’s not my fault. I asked Vince for help and after some testing, he concluded that it was netrillium’s fault. The old css is stuck in the server cache or something.

I know this layout takes some time to load…sorry, I got to carried away with slicing. Heez. I doubt this layout will stay up long. I have ideas for a new one already!

Tomorrow will be back to school again to continue work on the project. *sigh* Just back from Malaysia, a little holiday and there’s work right in my face already.

Went to Malaysia to celebrate my paternal grandpa’s 80th birthday. There was all this big hoo-ha. Everyone getting flustered and all. Sis and I were going “but it’s just a birthday celebration.” And Mum came back with the reply “wait till you reach 80-years-old.” That shut us up.

Oh oh…and my little cousin-once-removed, Lee Ann is so adorable. She looks like a little doll.

Alrighty…need to take a bath now. Will be back with more.

the dimmer side

I am almost done with the layouts and all. Just that I have a small problem with the cache. Now I really wonder why. In school, it seems that when I update a page, all I have to do is click on the refresh button twice and I see the changes.

Back at home, no matter how many times I refresh the page, I still get the old one. Don’t tell me to empty the cache and change the settings to “every visit to the page”. Done that.

This is rather frustrating.

Anyway, I’m going to Malaysia tomorrow. Going to celebrate my paternal grandpa’s 80th birthday. Today we just celebrated my maternal grandpa’s birthday in advance.

Work on the portal isn’t going too great. It takes a long time to load each result page. If 2 or more people start to search, the whole portal lags and hangs like nobody’s business. Zhihao says that it might not work even if we were to upload it to the school server. And we only have until next Wednesday to work on it.

Haha…we joked that maybe the whole portal might end up exclusively for Ms Tan’s use only. Wahahahahaha…

stop touching my stuff

I’m tired, bleeding and feeling like crap. And horrors of all horrors, the cleaning lady re-packed my stuff. Gawd. Will she just leave my stuff alone? Never mind if she packs only. I just took a quick look and I think that she threw the box for my webcam away.

To pack is one thing. But who gives her the right to throw my stuff away? I don’t care if I’m PMS-ing here or whatever.

a heffalumpish story

Went down to The Amara to lunch with Sis at O’Briens since I have a voucher and it was also to visit Joyce.

After which, we caught “Pooh’s Heffalump Movie”. Surrounded by lots of kids. Haha, the 2 of us…the only big kids. I like how Winnie The Pooh stories are circled around the topic of friendship and learning to love and accept others. Good values a kid could learn.

Now, I’m just itching to add on some stuff to my FYP so that tomorrow will be a slightly better presentation.

i see me

So…went to the IT show at Suntec yesterday and today. Yesterday was just to check out stuff and compare prices. Went with Per and Pwen.

Looked for Ling…she was working at the Kingston counter. Saw Benjamin too, working at the Acer counter. Later in the night, Sis told me Esther was working at the NEC counter.

We checked out the UK education fair as well. The minute I stepped into the hall, I felt kinda lost. Seeing people walk into there, asking questions to the people at the booth of a particular school, and me? What was I there for? Nothing. Just to accompany Per who wanted to check out a certain school. I don’t even know what I want to study.

Well, but my presence there did help London a little. We signed in their bid for being the next host country for the Olympics. After Beijing. Oh…and I did a survey by the British Council. Haha…

Per took a Samsung pamphlet this guy was giving out. And there was this huge error staring right in her face. If you can spot it, yay for you. Else, *disgusted look*

“Visit Samsung Roadshow at Suntec City Convention Hall 602 for fanstastic deals.”

Today, I got myself a webcam from the IT show. $29…Ranger Vcam365. Don’t need an extremely good one since it’s just for fun. It has a built-in microphone too.

Today was with Jo and later Per joined us. And today was worse. More people. Human-jam.

Later, went shoe shopping with Jo. She needed a pair of slippers badly.

I think the highlight was on our way home in the MRT. Per took out the free copy of Reader’s Digest she got and we started reading the jokes. This one’s really funny. No offence to Christians and God-loving people. It’s just a joke.

“Morning sermon: Jesus walks on water. Evening sermon: Searching for Jesus.”

WAHAHAHAHAHAHA…

Oh…and a moth took a liking to Per’s jeans and decided to hitch-hike. Jo and I on the otherhand didn’t want to be near Per coz of our dear little moth. No creepy crawlies manz. Haha…

lemony snicket

Today’s my grandma’s birthday. We celebrated with her yesterday. Simple meal together. And I was quite relieved/glad that my grandpa actually talked a bit. Ever since he had a little accident years ago, he became quite withdrawn and because of that, he started to age a lot quicker.

Watched “Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events”. Quite a nice show actually. Sunny’s so cute! And yes…don’t watch it if you are expecting to see happy little elves. Wahahahahahahaha…

I saw this nice sweater/jacket from Fila. But it’s expensive. Bleargh. James offered his Fila card to get a 15% discount. But with the discount, I still think it’s expensive and it’s not like I’m in need of one. It’s more of a want. I need to really think through if I want to get it. Like after I buy it, will I keep using it? If not, it’s pointless to spend so much.

tired and sorry

I’m really tired. Few days of sleeping at 4am has really taken its toll on me.

And it doesn’t help that I suck in Java. Sitting in the comfort of familiar surroundings at home. Everything is more or less there for me to work. And I have to get stuck.

Well you see, I do know what I want to do. Click this, what will happen. But the problem is I don’t know how to type out the codes to make it work.

Sitting there staring at what to put into the actionPerformed area. Panic a little since the submission is Friday. I won’t have much time to work on it since there’s still FYP to complete. It really doesn’t help that we have one member who isn’t doing anything. Finally, I give up. Shall get someone to help me out tomorrow. Wonder who will be patient enough to sit down with me to help me out. Or else I can just blardee fail ENMM and come back next semester.

I’m so sorry I ain’t good at anything.

I’m so sorry I’m such a slacker.

man and man living in harmony

Finally watched Casshern yesterday. It was TPJCG’s interclub screening where we invited groups/clubs from different schools with the same interest. One of our alumni members bought the imported DVD. The movie should be showing soon in the cinema…or maybe it is showing now? Cathay cinemas…which is pretty much Cineleisure since the other cineplex is in the west.

I enjoyed the movie although a few minor parts still remain a mystery to me. The ending was the best. Almost cried. How it portrayed what is happening in this world today. The meaning of it all. What are we living for? Human and human should live together in harmony. Yet, the distrust in each other, the way we are prejudiced forces us to have hatred for each other. Forgiveness and tolerance is needed. The line from Savage Garden’s “Affirmation”, ‘I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness’. Kindness begets kindness. Hatred brings more hatred.

The movie had some futuristic elements and some elements from the olden times. It is a rather “deep” movie. Unless you understand the meaning in the movie, as long as you are not watching it just for pure entertainment’s sake, you should watch it. So, be forewarned.

I heard of this movie when I was in Japan earlier this year. I think it was showing there then. All I knew was that some characters were mutants and the theme song was sung by Utada Hikaru. Ok…just a small spoiler. The characters are not mutants. They are just humans who are reborned from body parts. And if you think the lead character has nice blue eyes (as seen on the official wallpapers), sorry to disappoint you but you can’t even see clearly in the movie. Doesn’t look blue to me. No more spoilers…go watch the movie.

Yea…my favourite character is the lead character, Tetsuya.

Mr Blue Eyes

I think his armour is cool. Especially the piece covering his mouth. It is retractable and slides out only when he fights. Oh, he has a cool sword too.

incomparable to Jay

Friday, Sis and I went to Jay Chou’s concert. Not that I wanted to but Sis pulled me along since she had no one to accompany her. But I did enjoy the concert. Here’s a little tidbit for you.

2 encores. Never expected the second one. But Sis said she expected it since he sang “ÆßÀïÏã” at the second encore. It is the current popular song from his current album so it would be surprising if he didn’t sing it at the concert. Special guests were ÄÏÈÂèÂè and ÎÂá°. Hmmm…I thought the pink Yamaha grand piano didn’t suit Jay. Pink of all colours. Why couldn’t it be classic white or black?

malaysia trip

The main objective of the trip was to visit my grandparents. We invited them to stay with us in our service apartment. Since my grandmother can’t really walk a lot for a long period of time, there was not much shopping done.

The only thing I miss is the tv. The tv was equipped with cable so I could watch Viva S Club, Lizzie McGuire, CSI, and the various documentries. Mum refuses to get cable tv for our home since she said we would probably spend all our time glued to the tv and neglect our studies. Which I guess is partly true.

shop till you drop

Since I didn’t buy much clothes in Malaysia, Mum and I went shopping on Friday. Bought 2 pairs of jeans, 1 pair of cropped pants from Giordano and 1 skirt and a pair of shorts from OP. Yes…all bottoms. There is a serious lack of nice tops and shoes. Or maybe I’m just too picky.
